Reflection Day
Now that Easter and the time of Initiation of Children is complete for the year you may need to take a breath! We have invited Fr Chris Gleeson SJ to facilitate a short day retreat. It will take place next Sunday, 21st June, from 10am to 3pm at the Church/Community Centre.
Fr Gleeson is the Director of the Archdiocese Retreat, "Santa Teresa Spirituality Centre" at Ormiston in Brisbane. Some of you may know him as the Editor of "Madonna" magazine.
The love with which the children were showered with as they prepared for their Confirmation and First Eucharist is an outpouring of the love found in the Eucharist itself. Fr Gleeson writes:
"Twentieth century mystic, Thomas Merton, reminded us that 'because we love, God is present'. Those of us who enjoy musical theatre will always be enchanted by those haunting words sung by the hero Jean Valjean towards the end of Les Misérables: 'To love another person is to see the face of God'. Love is a fire no waters can quench, and passion is God's fire in us."
We need to take the time to reflect on our stumbling efforts to love and be reminded how close God is to us without realizing it.
So come along on next Sunday and be refreshed.
BYO lunch. Tea and coffee provided.
YES Children are welcome. But we have no arrangements for minders. Parents are asked to supervise children in the gathering area.
