Fr Hefferan Bursary

2020 Bursary on Hold

This year has been a very difficult one for our communities. Unfortunately due to the combination of extremely low returns on investments and the impact of the corona virus we are not in a position to offer the Fr Francis Heffernan Bursary & Awards for 2020.

The timing of the restrictions on activities has meant that some young people were not given the same opportunities as others to demonstrate their achievements.

So in the interest of fairness to all, the decision was taken to declare 2020 a “Fallow Year” for the Bursary.

Thank you for your continued support of young achievers in our region. We hope to be in contact with you next year to announce our next round of this encouragement award.

The family of the late Rev Fr Francis Hefferan who was Parish Priest of Nambour Catholic Church, set up a Benevolent Fund in 2000, specifically to encourage young people to achieve their goals by rewarding outstanding efforts in academia, the arts, or inovative pursuits

The Fund Committee comprises representatives of community, schools and our Parish.
