It has been a long tradition of the Catholic Church to provide a sacred site as a final resting place for those of our community who have died. In the past this has taken the form of cemeteries in the grounds of parish churches. It is becoming more common for people to choose cremation and the interment of their ashes instead of burial. A number of Churches in the Archdiocese have created special Memorial Walls for this purpose. The Columbarium at St Joseph’s Nambour has been built to provide a permanent resting place for parishioners and their families who wish to have their cremated remains interred. The Memorial Wall provides limited space for plaques only, in memory of loved ones. The Columbarium and Memorial Wall are situated in the sunken garden next to the Lourdes Grotto (Currie St side).
Parishioners interested in using this Columbarium or Memorial Wall for themselves or their family members, are welcome to contact the Parish Secretary (phone: 5441 1034)
